hi mom, good morning :D it might rain today so i was wondering if me and dave can take one of the cars maybe the mini van oh but then you wont have a car right :\
also i can pick up dinner! unless dad has plans already???
[ okay pretend it's more sketchy/~symbolic~ but Jack sends over two roughdrawings. There's the outline of a woman and wires in the shape of wings, but there's no detail on her specifically - the whole thing has a bizarre mix of biomechanical and stained-glass influences. ]
something like this wrt to the tat sorry about the whole thing abt my sexy fine ass boots wasnt exactly expecting it to get that uh yknow THAT
[ It's a bit creepy, she won't lie. It's sectioned in the anatomy of a woman - younger. She notes the lack of feminine curves and more lanky. Underfed, she feels. The lack of color and focus on the sprawling span of wired wings makes her feel like she's peeking into some serious undertones, but.
She chalks it up to Jack really liking angels and not being able to properly get the softness of the wings down. ]
It definitely did get into that and I'm currently out drinking to forget.
But. I think I can work with this. Do you want me to fill in the wings or do you like the wire look?
also dont tell bigby abt this text bc it sounds legit insane and hell have me committed seriously though i dont know how i know but i just KNOW the truth is out there liz
[ on the morning of the fourteenth, elizabeth, along with bigby, will be roused from her sleep by her daughter. she'll serve her parents breakfast in bed. the bottles, unfortunately, are nothing fancy but sparkling apple cider.
[ if Liz thought Jade would be the only one pampering her today, she would be sorely mistaken. not that she has any reason to think otherwise considering the number of Valentine's they've spent together by now, but alas.
while she is at work, she'll get an unexpected delivery from a middle-aged man carting a rather colorful collection of roses, lilies, carnations and who the hell knows what else inside her classroom while calling out for an Elizabeth Wolf. Bigby intended on that to happen for maximum fluster. with it is a handwritten note. ]
Happy Valentine's, Mrs. Wolf. Be happy I left the lingerie I got you at home. (Just kidding, you have plenty of that already)
Love, B.
[ when work is over and done with and she walks to the parking lot to get to her vehicle, she will also notice something is in her seat before she is able to plant her lovely butt in it. it's a case. when she opens it up, she'll notice three of her favorite cigars, a brand new cutter and the initials "EAW" engraved into a piece of medal attached to the leather. Bigby apparently took the time to drop it off without saying hello.
she's not quite dressed yet, since putting her hair up is a lost cause without an extreme amount of hair spray. bigby's genes are relentless and the sheer volume of her lion's mane-slash-bird's nest is ludicrous, meaning that the easiest way to tame jade's hair is a thorough ironing. while elizabeth does her make up for the night (jade had made sure her father was excused so that she could change in her parents' room comfortably, of course), jade's heating up the flat iron next to her. she's got one of her shorter dresses on for the moment, because there's no way her father or mother would let her out of the house on a date with dave with her gams showing all their worth.
jade is still twiddling her thumbs, staring down at the iron. she's watch elizabeth pile on her make up countless times, just like she's watched bigby shave countless times. shuffling into the bathroom as a child under the guise "i gotta pee!" just to sit there and stare because the act of grooming yourself is so weird to you is a timeless classic. she doesn't do that anymore, though, because she's not seven anymore. jade has to groom herself now.
and now she's ironing her hair for a date just like her mother curls her hair for a date and it's all very different, and new and... it should be exciting, but. ]
Sooooooooo. Um.
[ good opener, jade. ]
Remember when you played that song on the guitar that neither of us really knew?
[ But, it's such beautiful hair. Elizabeth's hair was thinner — going through different styles and cuts that didn't quite invigorate it. Years of tossing it back into a ponytail or cutting it short (when Jade was born)... this was the first time she felt a style suited herself. But, Jade? It framed her face so well and despite how unruly it was, Elizabeth always complimented her and took care of any knots.
Elizabeth's focused on the reflection in the mirror, rolling the dull eyeliner against her lid with a precision of a pro. It was honestly only a few years that Elizabeth reinvented herself with this type of style — this confidence of a well-educated woman who was (mostly) comfortable in herself. Jade's attire was mostly approved on and the trust she has was not for lack of trying... but promises that things were going to be okay. Nothing would happen.
As Jade speaks up, her vision pulls from the mirror and looks to the flat iron as its lifted up. ]
Soo – [ It would be longer but her finger falls tight against her rows of red lipstick, settling on top of one before twisting her hips to face Jade in front of the tiny little vanity. ] ... Yes. What about it?
[ There's a bit of tension, she knows. It's tight, making her stomach churn but not in one that makes her sick. Just a bit uncomfortable. ]
[ Her text doesn't come immediately. It'll maybe be an hour or so. Elizabeth had to time her showers right to not arise questions to the sudden, uh. Development. ]
Aren't you filthy rich now, but in a modest kind of way?
[ She tries to play cool and honestly, the robots don't seem surprising. Not with how much his class literally probably makes walking toasters with drills for arms fight to the death. ]
[ Elizabeth saw the flicker of her screen immediately when she was putting away the leftover cheese and potato casserole. It wasn't her favorite, but it was quick and easy — also, didn't have meat in it for Jade.
There's a jump in her throat when she sees Grell's text clearly, unlocking the phone and replying. ]
A girl was home alone and she walked downstairs. Nothing was there, but she heard the littlest noise even though nothing was there. So she went back upstairs and climbed into bed. At 12.00 PM she woke up to find a little girl standing at the foot of her bed. The little girl slit her throat open and left her for dead. Nobody found her corpse for around 3 weeks and by then she really smelled! Send this to 3 people or else by 12PM you will see a dead girl at the foot of your bed!
[ This wasn't what she needed to see! She has her apprehension about Retrospec but seeing this damn... copy and pasted message spread to her makes her laugh out loud. ]
Frisk... Where did you hear this from? Dead girls aren't summoned by mass spread by messages!
[Here comes a text from Ardyn, and for once, surprisingly, it’s not presented in the form of a joke. The flippancy is reeled back this time, because he’s not quite sure what he’s getting into — or even if Elizabeth will be inclined to share. Honestly, he’s not sure how he fits in with her circle of friends, if at all, and so he starts off plainly enough.]
Tell me if I’m overstepping boundaries.
But, after everything that’s happened, [i.e. Jack texting him after being out of commission] I have to ask: Is everything all right?
[ He fits in the trashcan with all her other friends.
But, Elizabeth and Bigby had already exchanged words. Things were said. Feelings were hurt. I'm keeping things vague because I haven't threaded it out... sweats. She sits on the text message, rolling her thumb over a few strokes on the touch screen but it's a few minutes until she replies. ]
Everything is as fine as it can be.
[ It didn't take a rocket science or a Master's degree to really know that Jack and Ardyn were friends. She wonders what will happen next, maybe some chastising or pettiness, but she doesn't equate that with his character. More a fear, honestly. The girl was sheltered and sometimes the complexity of an issue — a gray area — seems so foreign to her. Between Jack and Grell... she's curious about something. ]
Whatever happened with Bigby and Jack, I didn't expect it to go like that. I didn't know there was anything needing to happen.
A girl was home alone and she walked downstairs. Nothing was there, but she heard the littlest noise even though nothing was there. So she went back upstairs and climbed into bed. [ She definitely has. Elizabeth is tired of all this dancing fruit nonsense and refuses to open her fridge. Luckily, no packages addressed to Jade had arrived today.
She's just finishing getting dressed and Jade's knock catches her attention. ]
It's clear, sweetie. [ Literally, like she's entering a warzone. Bigby was probably already gone — be it for his own need for space or just for work. ] If you have one of those things in your hands, toss them down the garbage disposal.
[ jade enters the wolf family apartment. she left because of an "diy emergency", which is really just code for "i had an idea and cannot lose it, be back from lowe's in 20 minutes.
jade is holding her shopping bounty. it is heavy.
she places the heavy thing down with a "thunk". ]
I figured out what I want to paint my room with.
[ the paint cans she just set down say "specialty glow in the dark paint". this can only go well. ]
[ Elizabeth was getting the last few items picked out for the yard sale next week by the time Jade flops her bounty down so easily. ]
If it's chalk, I am declining that — [ She's too use to a white board, tbh. She soon spies the paint cans. ] That's not a color technically, you know. It's a novelty.
[FORWARD DATED TO TUESDAY because guess who missed Friday and Monday, it's this punk... Actually, he missed Tuesday, too?! It's probably not unusual for him to skip a day here or there, but more than once without so much as a doctor's note or email (neither of which he sent) is definitely a little bizarre.
He comes in after class has let out, during that period where professors are usually still hanging around, getting ready to leave. Whether the door to her room is open or closed, he'll knock first before either standing and waiting, or poking his head through.]
[ Oh, trust her, she noticed. Elizabeth had to, by decree of the university, e-mail students the day they missed but — Elizabeth finally texted the phone number on record with a "Are u ok?".
When he comes in finally, after her bag was packed for the day and she was ready to leave. The knock flicks her gaze up and she has a wash of relief on her face. ]
[ SURPRISE!!! it's your husband. the husband that you see every day. so maybe it's not a surprise at all.
moving on.
it's nighttime at the (new) Wolf household and Bigby has the entire weekend off instead of working Saturday's like he has been for quite awhile now. to say that he wants to savor the rare opportunity would be obvious. after going out for dinner with the fam and returning home, Bigby was happy to undress and get wound down for the evening. with Jade given the freedom to do what she sees fit, he retreated to the bedroom while forcefully dragging his wife along with him.
the (new and amazing) master bathroom connected to the aforementioned (also new and amazing) bedroom is where he is, door remaining open and the water from the sink running. Elizabeth can hear his razorblade clicking against the sink as he tries to work down the stubble that has plagued his cheeks for the past couple of weeks, threatening to turn into a full-blown beard. he doubts Mrs. Wolf would complain about the extra manliness, but he doesn't need it to be any more itchy than it has been. while shaving, he calls out to Elizabeth and whatever she was doing at the moment. ]
Thinking of taking a shower after. Offer's out there for you to join me...
[ it's safe to say they have kissed and made up since the whole Jack thing occurred. ]
[ Elizabeth had just put her hair back in bobbypins, an attempt to keep the slight wave of curls at the front of her raven-black hair. Bed time didn't simply mean it was time for them to sleep. As tired as Elizabeth was from her two jobs, their family was always nocturnal creatures.
Elizabeth's mind always raced at night - dreams of Paris and what the future held. Once, they were all she had, and now with her family... through the trying times, that's where her priorities rest.
Bigby's voice pulls her from the small mirror she was in front of, for once liking the light in the bedroom as opposed to just the bathroom. ]
I was just getting my hair pinned up! [ She says in an annoyed huff. ] You couldn't extend that offer a little sooner?
[ But, it's okay. He hears the door slide open and in the mirror, Liz was visible. ]
Don't shave it all off. [ She says with a coy mention. It had been a lot to deal with - these weird thoughts, memories, or whatever and all that transpired from them... but Bigby kept something routine. ] The last thing we need is something as drastic as a change like that. It'd be like me cutting my hair short again.
[ She tried it for a month and hated it when Jade was born. ]
hello, it's makoto even though it says meowkoto i've been wondering... what are your office hours for the university? is it the same for all the other personnel?
Since we're keen on sharing unfathomable abilities, would you like to hear of mine?
[Inanity is starting to become the norm. He doesn't even know how much alarm he should be feeling right now, but then again, he's had some time to parse all of this.]
[ At first, there's no actual text - just a picture of Jack in the mirror, looking vaguely hungover and maybe just a little distressed. The focus is on his eyes - the right one having turned blue instead of green. ]
