Y-Your eyes. [ They're the same vibrance as Grell's but — ] Jade, scoot up, let me up.
[ No shots, just motherly fear at this point. Elizabeth already hates the attic at this point as she climbs the ladder and eventually crawls in. As she kneels down, she tugs Jade closer. ]
[ when jade scoots aside, it's clear she's not sure what to expect, but she nods because yes her eyes, she could barely see enough to pick up her phone.
the attic still needs a lot of work, but there's paint cans strewn about, and jade's bed sheets litter the floor, as if she'd crawled over and just discarded them like a crumb trail back to her bed. it's messy, but less in a teenage occupant kind of way and more of a "still planning out how i want my new room to look" manner. ]
Like -- color or--? I can't, um, I think I need glasses. Really strong glasses because I, um, can't even see where your nose is?
[ Elizabeth, who had been passed out for the past 5 hours, was alone in this. Bigby took an early morning shift so he can make it for dinner today — clearly, he would have been better suited to stay home. She can summon the fact something happened to her, but seeing such a strange look on Jade makes her heart sink. ]
Color.
[ She says firmly, but when Jade expands the issue past mere color — Elizabeth is fearful. ]
You can't see? Sweetie — it's okay, we'll —
[ Do something? What, schedule her for an eye exam? She makes a mental note to call Grell once it's a reasonable hour. ]
I'm... I'm okay, Mom, really. It's no big deal, I promise. I can figure my way around! [ the smile is sweet and honest, the kind that says please don't worry about me more than it says i can take care of myself; jade's never been good at letting someone see she was anything but okay. it's been a problem from day one, when she came home from school and knew she was the "poor kid."
there's no resentment, though, just genuine love and a hope that she won't be a burden. ]
And I'll call and see about an eye exam, I think that they might have to make it for tomorrow but one day without them won't be so bad!
You can't be that optimistic — that's not in your DNA. [ aka her parents are shit. ] I need you to be careful - if this happened overnight... what the hell else could happen?
[ She's frustrated and that much is obvious in her voice. ]
I'll call about the eye exam, you worry about getting dressed properly.
Oh yes, I'm worrying over nothing. [ The sarcasm reads there, mainly because it's one part teasing and one part forcing herself to believe it. ] Just — just don't go anywhere hold on —
[ And she walks away for the time being to the other side of the room to call their eye doctor. Thus, unless Jade wants to keep sassin' her, things move.... quickly to get them glasses. ]

[ jade slaps a hand to her face, leaning back and her brows furrow to boot: she looks like a puppy dragged to the vet, waiting for their next shot. ]

Fiiiiiine. I bet it'll be completely fine, and then you will admit that you're worried over nothing! I can see color just fine, you know.
